My Books

Emotional Agility - Susan David

This is without any doubt the best book I have found in my entire career to help you improve how you handle emotions.

The Cow in the Parking Lot - Leonard Scheff

You don’t have to care anything about Zen or Buddhism to find this a very helpful book to improve how you experience and respond to frustrations and anger triggers.

Suggested practice items

Meditation Zafu

This is my favorite type of meditation cushion as it’s filled with buckwheat hulls to allow it to conform to your butt and make for a comfortable sit regardless of which position you prefer to use (seated vs kneeling vs some other position).

Meditation Zabuton

This large mat goes on the floor to allow you to sit or kneel comfortably. You will place your smaller cushion on top of this rectangular mat.

Large Colored Popsicle Sticks

You know from my videos and email instructions that I recommend you use these sticks or something like them to support your daily practice. Use these and stop worrying about whether you have done your practices today.

Meditation Gong

So many different gongs to choose from! I personally prefer the deeper bowls as they have a richer tone. While all bowl-shaped gongs can technically “sing” if you rub the mallet around the outside, top edge, I use these to just hit them at the start and end of a practice session and let it ring out.

Meditation Gong

This smaller gong is 4” in diameter and more shallow than the one above. So, I expect it would have a higher, brighter sound.

Kneeling Meditation Bench

Many people find the kneeling position much more comfortable than trying to sit with legs crossed. I used a bench like this for many years. Much easier on the knees.
